Scarisoara Glacier Cave (Peştera Gheţarul de la Scărişoara)
The Glacier Cave from Scarisoara is the first speleological reservation in Romania, located in the Apuseni Mountains, Alba County. The place hides a huge block of ice over 10,000 years old, perfectly preserved at the bottom of a 48-meter deep pit. Descending the stairs anchored in the rock instantly transposes you from a green mountain landscape directly into a frozen microclimate, where the Great Hall impresses with translucent ice stalagmites that never melt.
